Went to the old library downtown and found a whole section of newspapers from the 90s. The headlines feel like a different world.

My local paper still prints a few copies for the library and senior center. The smell of the ink and the sound of the pages turning made you slow down and actually read the whole article. Now I just scroll past headlines so fast I don't remember any of it. That physical thing forced a different kind of attention.

Totally get that. I started leaving my phone in another room when I read long articles online, helps a lot.

Yeah, that "different kind of attention" you talk about, @ericw93, is so real. I heard a podcast say our brains actually process info differently on paper versus a screen. Makes total sense.
