Appreciation post: A barn in Vermont showed me a new way to handle a tough trim

Last week I was at a barn in Stowe working on a draft cross with really bad flares. The owner said she'd been trying to fix them for months with no luck. I switched to a rasp with a different cut, the 10 inch Mustad, and took my time over three sessions. The change in the hoof wall after just that short time was clear. Has anyone else found a specific tool that turned a long term problem around fast?

Tbh, it's not really about the tool being a magic fix.

Seriously, a different rasp is that big of a deal, @wendy32?
