Found a trick for blending seams on stretch fabric

I was trying to sew a pair of leggings last month and kept getting these ugly puckered seams where the fabric overlapped. Tried a walking foot, different needles, nothing worked. Then I put a strip of tissue paper under the seam as I sewed and it glided through perfectly. Pulled the paper off after and the seams laid flat. Has anyone else tried this for knits or got a better method?

Tissue paper trick" sounds like a life hack from a sewing wizard who ran out of actual wizardry.

Whoa wait, is tissue paper actually involved here?! I thought we were just talking about some clever fold or something, not literally crumpling up wrapping paper for sewing! That sounds like it would just turn into a shredded mess once you start stitching through it. How does that even hold up when you're pulling the needle and thread through?
