Just got back from the mall and I'm honestly annoyed

I went to the big shopping center downtown yesterday, and every single store window was showing the same basic beige blazer. I counted at least 8 different brands with the exact same cut and color. It's like nobody is even trying to design something new right now. I saw one girl wearing a really cool patchwork jacket she probably made herself, and it stood out so much. Where are the bold ideas? How are we supposed to get inspired when everything looks the same? Has anyone else noticed this total lack of variety in stores lately?

I read an article last week about how fast fashion brands all use the same trend reports. They said a company in Milan sells color forecasts that every big chain buys. So when "chocolate brown" is the predicted color, every store gets the same memo. That's why we see the same beige blazer everywhere. It feels safe for them, but it makes everything so boring. I miss when you could walk into a store and actually be surprised by something.

Ugh, @emmamason, that explains why my whole closet looks like a sad beige memo.

My local thrift store is packed with wild stuff from the 90s right now. I found a bright orange corduroy blazer last week. I guess I just look in different places for that surprise factor.
