Warning about the new green sand additive from that big supplier
Honestly, I was just reading the safety sheet for the new 'BondFast' green sand additive our shop started using. I found out the silica dust levels can spike way higher than the old stuff if you don't keep the mix super wet. The sheet said in a dry mix test, airborne particles jumped by like 40 percent. I saw the bags come in last week and didn't think much of it, but now I'm telling my guys to really watch the water content. We had a guy coughing for two days after we ran a batch that felt a bit dry. Tbh, it's not worth the faster mold set time if we're breathing in that much extra junk. Has anyone else run into this with the new formula they rolled out?

Great, another "upgrade" that just means we get to breathe in more of the factory spice blend. So the big selling point is it sets faster, but the secret ingredient is extra lung glitter? Real smart move there. Guess we're supposed to just hose ourselves down with the mix water to keep the dust down?

Heard about a buddy over at a different shop who switched to that stuff. Said they had a guy on his crew start getting nosebleeds after a week of running it dry. They checked their air monitors and the fine particle count was through the roof. They went back to their old supplier real quick.

Nosebleeds from dust? That's messed up. Good on them for checking the monitors and switching back.
