Serious question, has anyone else tried offering a 'pay what you want' day for old clients?
I did this last month, just for one Friday, and told a few past clients they could book an hour of my time for any project and pay whatever they felt it was worth. I was sure I'd get lowballed, maybe get a few $20 payments. The weird thing was, out of the five who booked, four paid my full normal rate or more. One guy, who I did a logo for two years ago, paid double because he said the quick advice saved his new product launch. I learned that the people who already know your work often value it way more than you think. It also brought two of them back as regular monthly clients. Has anyone tried something like this, or did it totally backfire for you?

That's a cool way to test your real market value lol.

Test your real market value"? That's a wild way to look at it. It sounds like you're talking about people, not products. You don't put a price tag on a person. That's what companies did in the old days with salaries that never changed. The whole idea feels pretty cold.

Cold maybe, but that's how the world works.
