My Tokyo taxi twin glitch led to an awesome dinner

I was in Tokyo a week ago, trying to get around the city. I took a taxi from Shinjuku to Shibuya, and the driver was this friendly old man. Later that day, I saw what looked like the exact same driver in a different taxi in Asakusa. It felt like a glitch in the matrix, really strange. I decided to wave him down and ask if it was him. Turns out, he has an identical twin brother who also drives a taxi in Tokyo. We had a good laugh about it. Then he told me about a small sushi spot his brother loves, and I went there. It was the best sushi I've ever had, and I'm so happy I followed up on that weird moment.

Twins sharing a trade like taxi driving happens more often in Tokyo than people realize. A travel piece I saw mentioned whole families working in transport there. Those insider tips lead to the MOST memorable meals, just like your sushi find.

Oh, that really hits home. There's something so comforting about seeing family trades continue like that, it builds such deep trust. You're right that those connections often point you toward the real hidden gems, the places that feel like a shared secret. It makes the whole city feel more welcoming.

Try to imagine my family keeping a trade alive. We'd mess up the recipe by week two. Makes those multi-generation shops downright amazing. That trust comes from years of doing things right. It's why their suggestions always lead to the good stuff. You just know the food will be honest when grandma is still in the kitchen.
