I was cutting curls all wrong until I switched up my method
For the longest time, curly hair cuts left me scratching my head... I'd section it wet and trim evenly, but once it dried, the shape was always off. Clients would say it looked poofy or uneven, and I felt stuck. Then I read about dry cutting and decided to give it a shot. Now, I start with clean, dry hair and use clips to separate the curls gently. I cut each curl individually where it naturally falls, which keeps the bounce intact. It takes a bit more patience, but the results are so much better. My clients notice right away how their curls lay nicer... it's like night and day. Honestly, I wish I had tried this years ago.

How do you handle tighter curls versus looser ones when cutting dry?

Tbh, that tighter vs looser curl question is key. Do you cut them differently to keep the shape right after it dries?

Ugh, I feel that so hard. My old stylist used to butcher my curls every time. It's such a relief when someone finally gets it right.

That dry cutting method is definitely a game changer! But @adams22 is onto something important with the curl type question. Cutting every curl the same way, even dry, can still cause problems if you don't adjust for tighter or looser patterns. The real trick is watching how much each one springs up after you cut it. A tighter coil needs a totally different approach than a loose wave, or the shape gets weird again.
