Why I had to postpone my dream hike for two full seasons
I set my sights on hiking the entire Redwood Creek Trail years ago. Gear costs and family duties kept pushing the date back. Last spring, I finally had everything ready. But then, record rains washed out parts of the path. I checked trail reports every day for months. When summer came, the repairs were done and the weather was perfect. Walking among those ancient trees felt like a reward for all the waiting. Sometimes, the best hikes are the ones you earn with patience.

Watch how often life interrupts our best-laid plans with ridiculous timing. It's like there's a rule that no cool thing can happen without some pointless hassle first. Getting past all that nonsense is what turns a simple hike into a victory lap.

True story. Last Tuesday my car wouldn't start for a weekend trip. Had to get a jump, then hit terrible traffic. Felt like the universe was just adding fees for fun. But finally getting there made the campfire feel like a bigger win. The fight to get there is part of the story now.

Is it really a fight though? Sounds like a bad morning that turned into a decent weekend. Most trips have some dumb hiccup, it's just normal life being annoying, not some big story.

Totally, the hassle is what you laugh about later.
