My yoga group is split on props in vinyasa flows.
Props aid alignment but can slow things down. What's your take?

My yoga teacher calls vinyasa a moving meditation, but some people treat it like a race. If a couple of blocks or a strap keeps someone from face-planting in warrior three, maybe they're not the problem. The real shortcut is rushing so fast you miss the point of being there.

You mentioned props slowing things down, but that's the whole point sometimes. They make you feel the shape of a pose differently, which actually teaches you more than just rushing through. It's less about aid and more about getting a deeper physical lesson.

Believed props were just shortcuts that made practice easier. Your point about feeling the pose shape taught me to slow down and learn more. Now I get how they build better understanding for the long run.

Exactly, props force you to notice the small stuff. That detail is where the real learning happens.
