Isn't it wild how the best things in life are the ones you almost gave up on?

That reminds me of a time I was breaking down a deer a few years back with this old timer from Wyoming. He pulled out a worn down coffee mug and started stropping his knife on the unglazed ring at the bottom. Told me that clay ring hones better than any fancy rod. I tried it on my filet knife after he left and it worked surprisingly well. Now I keep a cheap ceramic mug in my kit just for that trick. Still use a steel for rough work but the mug gives a real polished edge for the final passes.

Hold on, I see it a little differently. Fifteen households funneling food scraps into three big bins in a shared alley sounds like a recipe for rats and complaints, not good compost. I've seen small scale stuff like that go sideways fast when no one's really in charge of turning the pile or managing the ratio of greens to browns. One person goes on vacation for two weeks and the whole system falls apart because nobody else knows what to do. It works great in a tight knit group where everyone is committed, but most neighborhoods can't handle that level of trust and organization without it turning into a headache.

Two months in and my feed is basically a ghost town now.

Why would I trust people who lied about the first three episodes?
