Tried to find the 'Doge' investor who bought my buddy's 2013 Honda and it took 11 days
Back in 2021 my friend sold his Civic to a guy who paid in Dogecoin and promised to HODL forever. Last month I got curious about where that car ended up and figured I'd find it in an afternoon. It took me 11 days of digging through old forum posts and a dead Discord server to learn the guy sold the car in 2022 and the wallet got drained in a phishing scam. Has anyone else tried tracking down a person from a viral crypto moment and just hit a wall?

The "promised to HODL forever" part got me, because my buddy had almost the same thing happen with a guy who paid him in ETH for a motorcycle. He swore he'd never sell it and then like eight months later it was on some resale site with new plates and a dent in the tank. My buddy tried to message the original buyer on Twitter and the account was just gone, poof. Sometimes the story ends way more boring than you want it to.
