Visited the old Fyre Festival site in the Bahamas last month
I was on a cheap trip to Great Exuma and decided to see the famous disaster zone. The place is just a sad patch of dirt now, with a few concrete slabs and some faded spray paint. You can still see where the 'VIP villas' were supposed to be, which are just foundations filled with sand and trash. A local guy selling coconuts told me they still get a few lost tourists every year asking where the party is. It's a total ghost town, and the only thing left from the hype is a weird feeling. Makes you wonder what happens to all the people who bet their whole career on that one viral moment. Has anyone else seen a place that was totally defined by an internet craze, only to be completely abandoned?

The local guy just shrugged and said it was a mess that left them with a bunch of junk to clean up. He seemed tired of talking about it, honestly. If you go, just be respectful and maybe buy a coconut. Don't be another person asking for a tour of the ruins. It's not an attraction, it's just a field where a bunch of people got scammed. The whole vibe is pretty grim once you're standing there.
