Finally got the hang of single-line boom hoist reeving after 8 years in the game

20 minutes on a 90-ton Grove" - dude, 20 minutes to set that whole thing up? No way. I've run dozens of setups on a 90-ton and you're talking at least 45 minutes minimum just for outriggers, cribbing, and getting the boom pointed the right way. Unless you're counting from when the truck parks to when you're lifting a light load with no jib, that number sounds insane. Not buying it.

PSA: The "mukbang ASMR chewing" trend finally broke me

Did you start getting weird cravings for fried chicken right after?

The week I found a Roman coin hoard in my neighbor's field felt like winning the lottery

Wait, hold up. Ngl I had to read that twice because my brain just couldn't process it. You hit a rock with a shovel and it turned out to be a whale vertebra from millions of years ago? That's absolutely insane, like lottery-level lucky. Honestly I've dug up so many random rocks in my yard and not a single one was anything close to that cool. Tbh I would've probably just chucked it back in the dirt thinking it was some weird concrete chunk. That's the kind of story you tell at parties and nobody believes you until you pull out the actual bone.

My neighbor's $200 chain link fence fix lasted 2 days before the dogs knocked it down again

honestly i get where you're coming from but sometimes duct tape is all you got at 2am when the hardware store is closed. $400 is a lot but maybe they had to slap a bunch of it on there just to stop the flood until a plumber could come next day. sometimes you're just trying to buy time not fix the whole thing.

Local river cleanup group showed me what 3 years of work looks like

And what about the bugs though? I feel like everyone focuses on the big stuff like fish and turtles, but the insect comeback is what really sets the whole food chain in motion. Did they mention if stonefly or mayfly nymphs are showing up in the gravel beds yet? Those things are like the canary in the coal mine for water quality, they need super clean conditions to survive. If the macroinvertebrates are bouncing back that fast, that heron is basically the tip of the iceberg.
