Update: My gallery show in Portland got canceled because the venue switched to AI-generated posters.
The owner told me 'the AI stuff is just cheaper and faster' after I spent 6 months painting the series they originally commissioned, so has anyone else had a client pull the rug out like this?

My cousin's band had a whole tour booked, and a week before the first show the promoter replaced them with a DJ who just plays AI-made "music" from a laptop. The whole vibe died, they lost all the gigs. It's the same cheap-out move, just a different kind of art getting scrapped.

Cheaper and faster" is a brutal thing to hear after six months of work. Did you have a signed contract for the commission and the show, or was it all just verbal agreements? That's the first place to look, because a venue just swapping your real art for AI junk at the last minute might be a breach. You should check if you can at least get paid for the paintings they asked you to make.
