I tried to use a new AI tool for making video clips and it totally messed up my project
I was editing a short video for my local hiking group in Denver, and I used this new AI tool called ClipCraft that's supposed to find the best moments automatically. I fed it about 30 minutes of footage from our last trip. Instead of picking cool scenic shots, it stitched together a weird 2-minute loop of us just putting on our backpacks at the trailhead. I had to go back and manually redo the whole thing, which took me another three hours. Has anyone else had an AI editing tool fail in a really silly way like this?

Yeah, that sounds exactly like my experience with these tools. They seem to miss the whole point of the footage, like they're just looking for any repeated motion instead of actual meaning. I bet it saw you all doing the same action with the backpacks and decided that was the important pattern, completely ignoring the beautiful scenery you actually wanted to show. It makes you wonder what data they trained these things on, right? What was the worst clip it gave you besides the backpack loop?

My hike video tool actually caught a perfect sunset shot I'd missed.

Ugh, that's so frustrating! I had a tool do something similar with my dog's birthday party footage. It made a highlight reel that was just three minutes of people's hands petting him, completely cutting out him actually eating his pupcake. What other weird patterns has it latched onto for you?
