My attempt at a 'free' city tour in Prague went totally wrong
I read online about these 'free' walking tours where you just tip at the end. So I joined one in Prague's Old Town. The guide was great, but at the end he gave a big speech about how he worked for tips and stared everyone down. I felt so pressured I gave him 500 Czech koruna, which is like $22. That was way more than I planned to spend on a tour that day. I learned that 'free' often means high-pressure tipping, and it's not really a budget hack if you feel forced to pay more than a set ticket. Now I look for tours with a clear, small price upfront. Has anyone found a good way to enjoy guided tours without this awkward tipping situation?
