My professor told me AI would never get creative work, but look at it now
Back in my senior year at college, my computer science professor said, 'AI will handle data, but true creative tasks like writing or art will always need a human.' That was maybe five years ago. Now I'm seeing AI tools generate whole ad campaigns and even win art contests. It makes me wonder what other old ideas about tech limits are just plain wrong. Has anyone else had a mentor's advice about AI age really badly?

Man, does that ever hit close to home. My old writing teacher used to say AI could never get the soul of a good story, that it was just fancy pattern matching. Now I'm reading whole short stories written by it that feel weirdly alive. It's kind of wild how fast those certainties crumble, isn't it? Makes you look at all those old lines in the sand.

That line about AI only handling data feels so dated now. I remember a graphic design teacher saying something similar about AI never understanding color theory. What specific creative tasks did your professor think were totally safe from automation?
