Realized my AI prompts were way too vague after getting 12 useless replies

I have been messing around with AI writing tools for about 6 months now, mostly for work stuff like drafting emails and reports. I kept getting back these super generic responses that sounded like a robot wrote them, which I guess they did. Then last week I was watching a tutorial where the guy showed his exact prompt for a project summary, and it had like 3 specific bullet points and a tone guide. I compared it to my prompts which were just one sentence like 'write a summary of the Q3 results.' That was the moment it clicked. I had been blaming the AI when really I was giving it zero direction. Anyone else have a similar wake up call about how you structure your prompts?

yeah but the thing is vague prompts aren't always the whole problem. sometimes the AI model itself just isn't built for what you're asking. i tried the same detailed prompt on three different writing tools and got completely different results. one got it right away, the other two were still useless. so yeah structure matters but so does knowing which tool fits the job.

Tools are just tools, gotta pick the right one for the job.

Which tool actually gave you good results from that same prompt?
