Burnt my hand on the air fryer basket at my sister's wedding brunch
I was helping my sister with her wedding brunch last Saturday and volunteered to make 40 sausage rolls in her new air fryer, but I forgot the basket stays hot after the timer dings. Grabbed it bare-handed to flip the second batch and ended up with a nice red mark shaped like the handle ridges, plus three rolls on the floor. Does anyone else have a dumb air fryer burn story that made you finally buy silicone gloves or what's your trick?

...and that's how I learned the air fryer is basically a tiny oven that lies about being cool to the touch. I still have a scar shaped like the little vent slits on my forearm from when I tried to "quickly" slide a baking tray in there without looking. The rolls survived, but my pride took a bigger hit than my skin did. Now I keep a pair of those cheap silicone oven mitts hanging right next to the fryer, and honestly, I still forget to use them half the time. The other half I just accept that my hands are sacrificial lambs for the crispy goodness.
