I was wrong about cooking frozen fries in the air fryer
I always just dumped them in straight from the bag, but my neighbor in apartment 3B told me to give them a quick spray with oil first. Tried it last night and it made a huge difference, they got way crispier. Anyone have other tricks for frozen stuff?

That thing about the oil spray on frozen fries is so true. It's like we all skip the basic step because the box doesn't tell us to. I see it everywhere, like not preheating the oven for frozen pizza or not stirring the canned soup halfway through heating. The instructions give you the bare minimum to make it edible, not actually good.

My grandma taught me to always add a little extra butter to boxed mac and cheese, same idea. Gavin_kim is right about the bare minimum instructions, it's like they want us to have a bad time. I notice this with cheap coffee makers too, the manual never tells you to run a water cycle first to clean it. We end up learning these little upgrades from other people, not the company that made the thing.

Totally agree, learned to rinse canned beans from a cooking blog. Makes a huge difference.
