Spent 8 hours chasing a phantom hydraulic leak on a Cessna 172

We had a report of a slow drip from the right main gear. Pulled the wheel, cleaned everything, pressure tested the line. No leak. Put it all back together, leak was still there. Finally found a tiny crack in the reservoir cap vent line, it was weeping down and dripping off the gear leg. Has anyone else had a leak that was actually from a component way above the wet spot?

My buddy chased a leak for days, it was the overhead vent.

Always thought water damage came from below. Stories like this prove you gotta check everything, even above eye level. Makes total sense now.

Yeah I always looked down too, but @torres.blair's story shows you gotta check up high.
