In my view, if you haven't turned a wrench, you shouldn't debate maintenance procedures. Your mileage may vary, but at our last get-together, a fresh grad tried to school me on engine tolerances over burgers, and it was painfully awkward.

Ugh, I feel that. @wesleythompson makes a point about the book learning, but it's just not the same as real world time.

Actually, fresh grads sometimes know the latest specs from school. Their book smarts just needs some real world time to catch up.

My old school was still teaching Java 8 when I graduated. I mean, maybe @lucast81 went somewhere fancy, but most places are years behind. You just learn the basics and figure the new stuff out later.
