Can we talk about how the 'debate boost' algorithm works?

I used to think viral political posts got big just because they were controversial. But I noticed something after tracking 60 posts from last month on X. Posts that framed an issue as 'us vs them' with a challenge question got 3x more shares than ones just stating facts. It's not about the argument itself, it's about the algorithm rewarding engagement loops. That changed my view because I saw the same pattern with a local news story I followed. The posts that asked 'who's right here?' blew up every time. Has anyone else noticed specific hooks that consistently push topics into trending?

I saw the same thing with a local neighborhood Facebook group I'm in. Someone posted about a zoning change with just the facts, got maybe 20 likes. Then a few days later, someone else posted "Is this city council trying to destroy our park or just making it worse for nobody?" and that thing had 400 comments in a day. It's wild because the actual information was the same, just the framing was totally different. The "who's right here" hook really does pull people in and gets them fighting in the comments.

Yeah but I think you're giving the "facts only" post a little too much credit. Most people don't actually read the details that carefully, so a big block of info just gets scrolled past. The emotional framing is what catches the eye, not the content.

Wait, is that really the same thing though? Reminds me of how my buddy's band got way more attention after they started replying to every single online comment, even the dumb ones, just to keep the thread going.
