My friend in Chicago swears the algorithm pushes anger to keep you scrolling

He showed me his feed, and for three days straight it was all political fights and comment section drama. I think he's right, the system picks what gets you mad to boost time on site. But my other friend says no, it just shows you what you already click on, so it's your own fault. Which side is closer to the truth here? Has anyone tried to clean up their feed and seen a real change?

It's both. The algorithm is a mirror that also throws rocks at you.

My buddy Mark got deep into those true crime shorts last month. His feed became nothing but unsolved cases and conspiracy theories, which really messed with his sleep. The mirror showed his interest, but the rocks were a bunch of new fears he never asked for.
