My local news story about a park cleanup got zero reach, but my cat sneezing got 50k views.
I posted a short clip from a volunteer event at Miller Park last Tuesday, tagging the city and using relevant hashtags. The algorithm completely ignored it, but a random 3-second video of my cat from the same day blew up overnight. Has anyone else had a serious post get buried while something silly goes viral?

What did the cat video hashtags look like?

Probably just #cat and #cute on repeat for three hours straight. Maybe a desperate #pleaseworkthistime mixed in there. The kind of post where you can tell someone's phone battery is at 2%.

The algorithm just wants pure, dumb fun. My detailed recipe video got maybe ten views, but a clip of me dropping an egg on the floor went crazy. It seems like the more effort you put in, the less it gets seen. A park cleanup is noble, but a cat sneeze is simple and shareable. The platform rewards what keeps people scrolling without thinking.
