I compared dry aged to wet aged ribeyes and dry aging won by a mile

I picked up two USDA Prime ribeyes last month from the same cow - one dry aged 28 days from a shop in Portland and one wet aged from my regular supplier. The wet aged had that metallic taste and lost more moisture during cooking, while the dry aged was beefy and tender all the way through. I know a lot of folks here prefer wet aging for the higher yield, but has anyone else found the flavor difference worth the extra cost?

Had a stretch last July where my shed roof leaked for three straight days

It rained almost nonstop that week in Austin and I found out the hard way that my cheap rubber sealant wasn't doing anything. My old fishing gear got soaked and I had to toss a rusted tackle box. Anyone else had a shed sealant fail on them in heavy rain?

Overheard a YouTuber admit he fakes his weekly spreads

Was at a coffee shop in Austin last month. Guy next to me was recording a bujo video. He said half his layouts are staged. He rewrites pages just for the aesthetic. Makes me wonder how many spreads online are real. Anyone else feel like the community is getting fake? Has anyone checked if those perfect logs actually track anything?

Got into a heated debate about Frank Miller's Dark Knight at a con in Austin last weekend

This guy kept insisting it was overrated and I snapped, bringing up panels from memory. Ended up standing there for 45 minutes arguing about panel layouts outside the convention hall, has anyone else had a comic debate spiral like that?

Vent: I was pairing prints all wrong for years

I used to just throw together any floral and stripe and call it a day. Then at a sewing workshop in Denver last fall, a woman pointed out that my scarf and skirt both had the same scale print. She said that's why it looked messy. Now I make sure one print is small and one is large. Has anyone else had a moment where a simple rule like that clicked for you?

That buddy who swore the moon landing was faked got me good

My friend Mark kept sending me YouTube links claiming the 1969 moon landing was filmed in a studio. I spent an afternoon digging into his evidence and actually found a real NASA report from Houston that debunked his main 'flag waving' claim. Turns out the flag had a metal rod in it, not wind. Has anyone else had a friend try to push a conspiracy that turned out to be totally hollow?

My neighbor in Phoenix said he just throws his patio cushions in the shed all winter.

I heard him telling another guy at the mailboxes that it's fine because it's a 'dry heat' out here. That's a fast way to ruin a $200 set with mold and sun rot, even in Arizona. I keep mine in a sealed deck box with a couple of those big silica gel packs. Anyone else in a hot climate have a better system for keeping cushions safe?

My brother insisted we try 'Wingspan' with his 'no-bird-talk' rule, and our game night in Phoenix went from tense to fantastic.

He said to just play the cards for points and skip the flavor text debates, which cut our playtime in half and we actually finished a game for once, so has anyone else tried a 'no-theme-arguing' rule to keep things moving?

Why does nobody talk about the gap behind the toilet when tiling?

I finished my main bathroom in March and realized I left a 2-inch gap behind the toilet base because I tiled to the flange, not under it. Now I have to cut tiny filler pieces. Has anyone else dealt with this and have a better method?

A veteran operator in Mobile told me to check the suction line every shift, and it saved my pump.

He said, 'Listen for a change in the hum, then feel the hose.' Last Tuesday, the engine sound got a bit higher pitched. I shut down and found a softball-sized rock jammed in the elbow joint of the 10-inch line. If I'd run it another hour, the impeller would have been toast. Who else has caught a problem just by sound before it got bad?
