Vent: That viral 'dupe' dress from last month fell apart after one wash
I saw a video on TikTok about a dress that looked just like a designer one but cost $25. The video had over 2 million likes. I ordered it from the site in the link. It arrived from a warehouse in LA last week and felt thin right away. I washed it on cold and hung it to dry, and the seams on both sleeves completely unraveled. The fabric is so cheap it's already pilling. Has anyone else had this happen with those 'exact same' viral finds? What brands actually hold up?

Honestly, I've had the opposite luck. That same dress is holding up fine for me, and I've washed it a few times now. I think it really depends on the specific batch or seller you get it from. My friend got one that was terrible, but mine from a different link was okay. It's such a gamble with those viral items.

Saw a whole thread about this exact thing last week. People were saying the factories making these viral items have zero quality control, so every batch is totally different. One person got a perfect dress, the next person got a rag. Makes you not want to bother with those trendy links at all. It's just luck of the draw.

Ugh, "felt thin right away" is always such a bad sign. Those viral links get you every time. I've had a few of those fall apart in the wash too, it's the worst.
