took me a while to realize algorithms push conflict over accuracy

I noticed that when I post something neutral or balanced on Facebook, it barely gets 50 views, but one slightly controversial comment can hit 5,000 in an hour. Has anyone else seen how hard it is to get a fair, nuanced take to spread compared to a heated argument?

It really shows up in news coverage too, the same algorithm logic rewards extreme takes over careful reporting. A calm explanation of a complicated topic just doesn't get the same engagement as a headline that makes people angry or scared. This is how we end up with a public conversation that's mostly about conflict instead of understanding.

Right, because who needs facts when you can just make everyone mad instead.

Yeah totally, it's like how my uncle's rant about traffic lights went viral but his thoughtful post on local zoning got 2 likes.
