Honestly thought the hype around 'Frieren' was just more seasonal noise

Tbh, my buddy kept telling me to watch it for a month, and the first episode about the funeral finally convinced me. Anyone else get completely blindsided by a show they wrote off at first?

Yeah, that first episode of Frieren is a total gut punch that changes the whole show. It's smart to wait for a quiet moment to try a show you're unsure about, like @shanec61 did. Sometimes you just need the right mood to click with it. I've learned to give a show at least three episodes before I quit now, because pilots can be weird. Getting blindsided by a good story you almost skipped is the best feeling.

Felt the same way about Spy x Family. Saw the posters and thought it was just another cutesy show. Gave it a shot on a boring Sunday and the whole spy-meets-assassin fake family thing hooked me right away. That mix of action and comedy totally won me over. What show did you end up liking after putting it off?

Wow, my cousin totally ignored "Attack on Titan" for years before the first scene grabbed him.
