The 12th episode of that farming anime finally got me to admit I was wrong about slice of life

I spent three seasons calling those shows boring until the harvest festival arc in episode 12 made me tear up over a fictional radish, so now I'm wondering what other genres I've been sleeping on, has anyone else had a scene that just clicked for them out of nowhere?

Tear up over a fictional radish" is the funniest thing I've read all week, but yeah, I get it. I had the same thing happen with a cooking show. There was this scene where a guy just made rice perfectly and his grandpa nodded, and I was sitting there choking up like it was a funeral. Slice of life sneaks up on you because nothing big happens, but then you realize you care about these fake people more than your own neighbors. It's like your brain finally figures out that quiet stories hit just as hard as explosions, they just take their time doing it. I got hooked on a fishing anime after that, and now I hate that I slept on it for so long.
