Watched a guy at a tiny anime meetup in Tulsa explain why the 1997 Berserk anime only got one season
I went to a small viewing party at a comic shop in Tulsa and someone brought up the 1997 Berserk adaptation, and a guy there explained the whole story about the manga being too dark and the anime catching up too fast. Does anyone know if that same thing happened with other shows from that era?
Did you ever watch the old Guyver OVA from the 80s? Same kind of deal there, the anime passed the manga and just made up its own ending. I ran into this a lot back when I was grabbing burned DVDs at cons, half the shows ended weird because they caught up to the source. Tenchi Muyo is another one, the TV run went off on its own path. It was super common in the 90s, studios just ran out of manga to adapt and wrapped it up however they could.
