Warning: I ignored the ice maker fill tube heater clip on 4 fridges in Denver and every one came back
After two callbacks on the same Whirlpool in a week I finally looked up the tech sheet and saw the fill tube needs the heater clipped tight against it or the line freezes solid behind the liner, and not one of those four has called back since.
How many guys even read the tech sheet before they start throwing parts at it? That clip looks like a nothing little piece of metal so everybody ignores it. But if it ain't tight against the fill tube, that line freezes solid behind the liner every single time. I fought a KitchenAid three times in one winter before I figured that out and I wanted to kick myself. Clip it right and the callback never comes. Simple as that.
