Watched an old timer fix a fridge with a dollar bill at a shop in Tulsa and it actually worked
So I was at this repair shop on 11th street in Tulsa last month picking up a belt for a dryer when the owner waved me over to a fridge he was working on. A customer had brought in a Whirlpool that kept frosting up and he was about to tell her it needed a new thermostat. The old guy grabs a dollar bill, slides it under the door gasket, and pulls it around the whole frame. When it slid out easy on the bottom corner, he just goes 'there's your problem, gasket's shot back here.' He didn't even need a meter or anything, just that trick to feel where the seal was loose. I've been doing this 6 years and always used the paper test on the hinge side only, never thought to run it all the way around. Now I do it every single fridge call before I even pull out my gauges. Anyone else got a cheap old school test like this that beats the fancy tools?
