Finally figured out why my wedges kept splitting on bigger oaks
Watched a guy at a job site in Richmond drive his wedge with the grain running vertical instead of horizontal and it took me 12 years of fighting stubborn fells to see what I was doing wrong, is there a reason nobody teaches that at certification?

Man, people are talking about the 12 years like it’s just a wild story, but the real crazy part is the system that let it slide for that long. Nobody caught it because nobody was ever looking close enough, and that’s a whole other level of messed up. I bet someone saw red flags early on, but they figured it wasn’t their job to say anything, so they just played dumb. That’s the part that bugs me, the silent enablers who let a thing like that just keep rolling for over a decade.
