TIL a trick for taming cowlicks on a client from Chicago

Read an article that said shared local details trigger memory and trust way faster. Like Chicago hot dog talk hits different than just saying Illinois. It gives you a real picture to share, not just a fact.

Warning: I tried a new way to set my outriggers on a sloped site

Sometimes rushing gets the job done before things shift again.

Showerthought: I was at a family reunion in Austin and saw my cousin's grown-out balayage, and it completely changed how I do consultations now.

Isn't it wild how a simple sketch can change everything? @grant.olivia's friend's story about the pixie grow-out plan is a perfect example. That visual step-by-step is SO much clearer than just talking about it. I bet that diagram @fiona_carr26 drew made the client feel way more in control of the whole process, not just the next haircut. It turns a scary grow-out phase into a planned journey they can actually see. More stylists should try that napkin sketch method for real.

Had a wild Thursday at the shop in Springfield where I did 22 cuts back to back

Used to just power through the hand cramps and call it part of the job. That cold towel trick is a total game changer though, never would have thought of it. Switching tools mid-day to save your grip makes so much sense when you put it like that. Gonna try both of those moves next time my book is slammed.

Was at a diner in Boise and saw a fridge from the 70s still running in the kitchen. The owner said it's never been serviced.

Sounds impossible for a fridge to last that long. The compressors in those old units were built like tanks. Modern ones would have died years ago.
