My trowel snapped during a dig in Tucson yesterday, right when we were uncovering a potential hearth feature.

Typical. My last trowel gave up right as I was clearing dirt from a perfectly intact pot rim. It's like they wait for the most important moment to break. Had to finish the job with a pocket knife, which was a mess. Maybe we should just start buying them in bulk.

Ugh, that's the worst timing! I had one snap on a wall line last season. I ended up using the broken edge like a scraper, it was actually weirdly good for cleaning that last bit of soil off. Had to wrap the handle with athletic tape though.
