People keep saying the Nazca Lines are just for aliens

I mean, I keep hearing this on shows and it bugs me. The real work by researchers like Maria Reiche showed they were likely for water rituals and astronomy, not spaceships. It matters because it takes away from the actual people who made them. Anyone else get tired of the ancient alien stuff for every cool find?

Used to think the alien thing was fun, but learning about the water ritual stuff made it way more real for me.

People often believe things more when they connect to a pattern they already know.

Yeah, it's all about fitting new info into an old box. Like when a weird noise at night is instantly a ghost because you watched a scary movie, not just the house settling. The pattern is already there in your head, so the new thing clicks right in. That's why the ritual talk hits harder for some than a blurry photo. It taps into older stories about ceremonies and hidden knowledge. The evidence gets filtered through the story you already know.

But how does a ritual make it more real than actual evidence?
