PSA: I drove 3 years with my mirrors aimed wrong and a $12 blind spot mirror called me out
For years I set both side mirrors so I could see the edge of my own car in each one, because that is what my dad showed me in a parking lot in Ohio back in 2009. Last month a coworker hopped in for a lunch run and asked why I was craning my neck so much at a merge, and she said her driving instructor told her to aim the mirrors out until the car edge barely shows. I tried it in a lot in Dayton and my blind spot shrank to almost nothing, which was a weird feeling after so long. Now I am second guessing every other driving habit I picked up from watching somebody else. What is one thing you learned young that turned out to be flat wrong?
