That time my uncle told me to put salt in my coffee and I actually listened
So my uncle Dave told me a pinch of salt cuts the bitterness in cheap coffee, and I thought he was messing with me. Tried it this morning with my dollar-store Folgers and honestly the cup tasted way smoother. Has anyone else tried this weird hack or is my uncle just pulling my leg?

That "tiny pinch" advice is the real deal. I messed up the first time I tried it and dumped in a whole shake of salt thinking, what's the worst that could happen? Let me tell you, one sip of that salty coffee soup and I was pouring it down the sink, swearing Uncle Dave was a madman. So yeah, he's right that you've gotta be careful, like a little pinch that barely looks like anything. It's a cheat code for bad diner coffee too, I've done it in a pinch at a truck stop and it saved my morning.

Is it really that serious though? I mean, I get that salty coffee is nasty, but a whole shake of salt sounds like you were asking for trouble @singh.harper. I've done a pinch in bad diner coffee and honestly couldn't tell if it was better or I just convinced myself it was. Maybe it's more of a mental trick than a science thing.

Uncle Dave is an unsung hero and you owe him an apology for ever doubting him lol. Salt in coffee isn't some new age trend, grumpy old baristas have been doing it for decades to fix burnt batches. The science part is that salt blocks your tongue from tasting bitter stuff, so it's basically cheating the system. Just don't go overboard or you'll end up with a salty latte disaster. Try a tiny pinch next time and thank me later.
