Am I the only one who thought phone shots of the moon were fake until a guy at the Grand Canyon star party showed me his screen?

That Grand Canyon star party moment is exactly how it clicked for me too. What most people don't get is that phone makers use a trick called multi frame stacking for moon shots. The camera snaps a bunch of quick pics and lines them up so the dark sky stays smooth and the moon gets sharp. The key is you gotta tap and hold on the moon to lock focus and drag the exposure slider way down, otherwise it turns into a white blob. A cheap tripod or even leaning the phone on a rock helps a ton, and turn off that auto night mode because it fights you on bright subjects. Once you do those steps a normal phone pulls detail you can actually see, craters and all, no fake stuff needed.
