My buddy Dave went through this exact thing two summers ago. Paid the bond every year like clockwork, then when he finally went to sell, the inspector found old damage in the crawl space that the company never flagged. Turns out the bond only covered new activity, not stuff that was already there, and nobody ever told him that when he signed up. He ended up eating like six grand in repairs out of pocket. Read the fine print on that renewal before you send a check.
