Hit 500 cabinet doors made last month and it got me thinking

I've been building cabinets for about 8 years now. Last month I finished up a job for a new house in Columbus and realized I just passed 500 doors made in my shop. That number surprised me because I never really kept count before. I know some guys crank out way more with CNC but I'm still using a table saw and router table for most of it. What milestones have you guys hit that caught you off guard?

Just hit 10,000 linear feet of conduit on a single job site in Austin...

We're running underground power for a new data center off Parmer Lane and I couldn't believe it when I added it up. That's 10,000 feet of 4 inch PVC plus all the sweeps and pull boxes. Did anyone else have a number like that just sneak up on you and make you stop for a second?

Last month I sat in on a cupping session at a small roastery on the east side, and the owner spent 45 minutes breaking down how acidity and body work together. Has anyone else met someone who just made everything click with a single demonstration?

I hit 100 air fryer meals tracked in my little notebook and it feels weirdly like a real milestone

Most people say you just throw stuff in and eat, but writing down each recipe and how it turned out helped me finally nail the timing on frozen chicken thighs after 40 tries, so has anyone else kept a log like that or am I overthinking this thing?

Just realized I was training my AI model on bad data for 6 months

Spent half a year feeding customer chat logs without filtering out the spam replies, and the model started mimicking those nonsense responses like "please call back" on every query. Has anyone else accidentally trained their model on garbage and had to start over?

That viral 'lint remover' brick from TikTok shredded my favorite sweater

I saw this ad for a reusable lint remover that was supposed to be gentler than a razor, so I grabbed one for 12 bucks. After three passes on a black cashmere blend sweater from H&M, it left bald patches and pilling worse than before. Anyone else try those sticky stone things and end up with ruined clothes?

Hot take: That 'cancel this restaurant' post on our local page was way overblown

Saw a thread last week piling on a diner in town for serving a burger that looked nothing like the menu photo. Someone claimed it was 'false advertising' and the comments went nuts for about 6 hours. I went there Monday with my wife to see for myself. The burger was fine, tasted good, just had a slightly different bun than the pic. Turned out the original poster was a competitor's owner with a burner account. Anyone else notice how local Facebook groups jump to outrage before checking facts?

Update: I switched from a $50 blade grinder to a manual burr grinder for my morning pour-over and the taste difference is night and day.

The consistent grind from the burrs, which I got for about $80, brought out way more flavor from my Ethiopian beans than the cheap electric one ever did, so has anyone else made a similar switch and noticed a big jump?

The push for full digital takeoffs is leaving some good people behind

In my experience, our small firm in Boise tried to switch to a fully digital takeoff system over 6 months. The software itself was fine, but we lost two of our best senior estimators who just couldn't get comfortable with it, despite the training. They had 30 years of field experience between them, and their gut feel for material waste was often more accurate than the software's perfect-world math. Now we're down that institutional knowledge, and I think the industry's rush to 100% digital is causing this everywhere. Has anyone else found a good way to blend old-school experience with new tech without forcing people out?

PSA: A fake video of a local mayor almost got me at a town hall meeting last month

I was at the Springville town hall meeting, just watching on my phone, when they showed a clip of the mayor saying something crazy about raising taxes. Everyone started booing, but something felt off. I paused it, looked close, and the way his mouth moved on the word 'triple' was just wrong, like a bad puppet. I checked the official feed and that clip was never part of his speech. It was a deep fake someone made to stir trouble. Now I check the source of any political clip before I even think about sharing it. Has anyone else caught a fake in what seemed like a normal local news stream?
