Serious question, my $180 dehumidifier quit on day 9 and the warranty guy acted like it was my fault
Bought a 50 pint dehumidifier from a store in Boise on a Saturday, ran it in my basement, and it died on the following Monday week. The warranty rep told me I must have tipped it or run it on an extension cord, neither of which I did, and wanted $45 to ship it for "testing." Has anyone actually won one of these fights, or do I just eat the loss and buy a different one?
What did the store say when you brought it back there instead of calling the warranty line? Most of these brands push you to the 800 number so the store can wash their hands of it, but a 9 day old unit dying in a basement is a pretty clear lemon case. Did you pay with a card? Some cards give you a return protection window that gets around the whole "ship it for testing" runaround. Also curious if the rep put the extension cord thing in writing anywhere, because that sounds like them fishing for a way to blame you.
