Paid $4,200 for a new HVAC unit last spring and it already quit on me

I went with a smaller company over in Marietta because the big name places quoted me almost double. Everything ran fine through summer, but last Tuesday it started blowing warm air and the guy says the compressor is dead. Now I am stuck waiting on a warranty part and fighting with them about whether labor is covered. Anyone else deal with a brand new unit dying inside a year, and did the company stand behind it?

Labor usually isn't covered on parts warranties, so that fight might not go your way. Sucks either way for a unit that new.

Dealer ate the labor on my 2021 Ford, so @johnson.river is right that it varies.
