Warning: my kitchen sink drain broke at 11pm on a Friday and the ants came back
So last Friday around 11pm I hear this weird gurgle under the sink and the pipe just gives out, water everywhere. I mop it up, think fine, I'll deal with the plumber Monday. By Sunday morning there's a trail of tiny ants running along the baseboard where the cabinet got soaked, probably a couple hundred of them. I sprayed that home store stuff and they scattered but came back two hours later like I did nothing. Turns out the wet wood under there is exactly what they want, and spraying them just made them split up into different paths. I pulled everything out of the cabinet, propped the doors open with a fan on it for a full day, and finally called a guy out in Decatur who said the wet wood was the real problem, not the ants. He was right, once it dried out and I sealed the tiniest gap around the pipe they stopped coming. Has anyone else had a plumbing leak basically invite the whole colony in like that?
