Dropped a rebuilt fender in the parking lot after a 12 hour shift

I was loading up my truck after a late night at the shop in Akron, trying to balance two fenders and my coffee cup, and the top one slid right off onto the asphalt. Had to spend the next morning fixing a dent I put in myself before the customer even saw it. How do you guys avoid rushing mistakes when your body is just done for the day?

That blanket trick is smart, especially after a long shift (I have a moving blanket I keep folded behind the seat specifically for this). I take it one step further - I got a cheap plastic tote from the hardware store, like $8, and I toss parts in there one at a time while standing at the tailgate. No walking around with anything delicate in my hands after hour 10. The tote stays in the bed of the truck so everything slides around in there but nothing meets the pavement. Saved me from exactly that feeling of watching your own work hit the ground after you were already dead tired.

Laid everything down on a blanket first. Stops the temptation to juggle.

Oh great, so now I need a blanket AND a tote for my truck? What's next, a full-on operating room setup with a tray table and bright lights? At this rate, my tailgate is going to look fancier than my actual garage.
