Had a master tech tell me I was over-torquing lug nuts and it clicked
I've been doing tires for about 4 years now and always just cranked them down with my impact gun until they felt tight. One of the old guys at the shop watched me do a brake job last month and said 'you're gonna warp those rotors doing that.' He showed me how to use a torque stick and then a torque wrench to hit 100 ft-lbs exactly. Now I do it every time and I swear I haven't had a single come back on a shakey wheel since. Anyone else learn a basic thing way later than they should have?

Nah, been torquing to spec from day one. Safety matters.

Preach it @mason_reed47. Torque or die.

Are we really acting like torquing a bolt to spec or not is life or death here...? I mean, I've seen guys just send it with an impact gun and their cars haven't fallen apart on the highway or anything. Maybe it's more of a peace of mind thing than an actual necessity.
