Vent: Saw a shop in Denver using a 3/8 impact on a crank bolt
I was dropping off a part at a shop on Colfax and saw a guy trying to zip off a Honda crank bolt with a regular 3/8 impact. You could hear it screaming. He went through three sockets before the service manager finally walked over with the proper 1/2 inch gun. How do places let that slide? Anyone else seen something that basic get messed up recently?

Sometimes you gotta use what's on hand to get the job done.

Totally agree with that, Karen. I was trying to fix a wobbly shelf yesterday and ended up using a stack of old coasters as a shim because the hardware store was closed. It's not pretty but it's holding. You just have to get creative sometimes.

That's just painful to watch. I've seen guys round off so many bolts trying to use the wrong tool for the job. It's a basic shop rule for a reason.
