Warning: that $12 harbor freight pick set saved my back on a rusted brake line bracket
Last Tuesday I was doing rear brakes on a 2009 Silverado and the bracket bolt was so rusted I almost cut the whole line out. Grabbed the cheap $12 pick set from the bottom of my box that I bought on a whim and the little hook pulled the clip free in about 30 seconds. If I'd gone at it with a screwdriver like usual I'd have stabbed the line and been out $80 for a new one. The pick bent a little on the second one but it still did the job and honestly the $40 name brand set I got burned on last year didn't do any better. What cheap tool has bailed you out when you were about to make a $200 mistake?
Ever try the free pens from the bank counter? The pocket clip on those things is a perfect pick for tiny clips. Sounds dumb but it works and costs nothing.
